The fifth year of the AAF Dallas Shining Stars program was thankfully an in-person event that made all who attended giddy with joy to be in each other’s presence. The event, held on September 16th, was abundantly represented by the who’s who in the world of Dallas advertising and marketing.

Since launching this program, there has been a marked shift in AAF Dallas leadership with a board makeup of 65% women.

Adchat DFW had the opportunity to sit down with many of the stars and ask them interesting  questions from who was their biggest inspiration to how COVID has affected the industry. Many of the answers will surprise you. The videos were played at the event and are below.

Gottfried is the principal of Brand Management at LERMA/, a Dallas-based next-generation communications agency dedicated to creating disruptive and impactful content for multicultural America.

AAF Dallas hosts the fourth annual Shining Stars awards program honors top women in Dallas advertising. The program recognizes Dallas women who are producing thought-provoking and innovative work, breaking through barriers to create something new, or forging partnerships that drive growth. The Shining Stars, who include community leaders, C-Suite executives, co-founders, executive VPs, strategic masterminds and media mavens, are breaking glass ceilings and elevating the Dallas advertising and marketing community to new heights.

Gottfried is a leader in the industry with tremendous expertise and insights, having worked with a broad range of the most iconic brands including Procter & Gamble, JCPenney, Gillette, Gatorade, Quaker, Pepsi, The Home Depot, Keurig Dr Pepper, Lay’s, AT&T, Hyundai and Radio Shack. She has embraced the digital revolution and sets an example for others to follow. Throughout her career, she has cultivated top advertising talent in the Dallas Market by working with them hand-in-hand to service blue chip clients. She’s been particularly mindful of mentoring top female advertising talent to push the boundaries for client success. Salma consistently delivers results for clients and the agency. Most notably, her contributions to The Home Depot efforts have been key in the retailer adopting more multicultural communications, including efforts by the brand to be more authentically reflective of its own customer base.

The wait is over. We’re sorry for the delay! AAF Dallas is excited to announce who the top 20 women in Dallas advertising are!

AAF Dallas is celebrating the 4th annual Shining Stars awards program which honors top women in Dallas advertising. In 2017, we launched our AAF Dallas Shining Stars program to celebrate amazing women doing amazing things in Dallas advertising. Inspired after attending the Southwest Advertising Hall of Fame event, we googled “top women in Dallas advertising” and the result was “The 10 Most Beautiful Women in Dallas” instead of finding women who are producing thought-provoking and innovative work, breaking through barriers to create something new, or forging partnerships that drive growth. We believe ambition, work ethic, creativity, and leadership are qualities to celebrate and elevate. We believe when you get 25 incredible women in a room, great things happen. We believe it’s time that the nation recognizes our city as the talented advertising market that we are…and so the AAF Dallas Shining Star program lives on. See last year’s group here.

Your health and safety is important to us, we are currently postponing the Shining Stars event to Thursday, September 3. We have been working closely with the venue to ensure our guests safety is a top priorty. Currently (6/15/20) there is a limited number of tables of SIX(6 attendees) only with SIX(6) feet apart from each table. We WILL be requiring masks for all attendees (with medical exceptions) for this event. The venue has also increased sanitation and have committed to single use serving dishes. We will be serving plated dinners this year in lieu of action stations. Gloves and masks will be worn by all staff, but also available to guests if requested. Additionally, we will have a medical professional at the door checking temperatures. This event will only go if it is safe to do so. In the event that it is postponed again, we will let our Shining Stars and attendees know.

Dress code is semi-formal. Table reservations will begin on June 15, 2020. This event will have very limited capacity this year and has consistently sold out in years past. Therefore are no individual ticket sales at this time. We are currently only booking tables for our honorees and their companies at this time! Please register for our mailing list if you would like to be notified if individual tickets go on sale. In the mean time, one way to show support for your favorite Shining Star is to takeout an ad in this year’s book. Top 20 Women in Dallas Advertising Chat About Their Jobs

The AAF Dallas Shining Stars inaugural award ceremony took place June 13th at House of Blues, to honor and celebrate the the creativity, ambition and leadership of the top 20 women in Dallas advertising.  Nominated and voted in by their peers, these women run the gamut from C-level executives and Co-Founders to Group Creative Directors and Media Strategists. AAF Dallas teamed up with presenting sponsor, SMU Temerlin Advertising Institute to make the luncheon a huge success.

The Dallas Shining Star program was created by AAF Dallas to elevate Dallas as a top advertising market and to show off the incredible talented women we have in our advertising and marketing communities. Since the metroplex has become a hot spot for Fortune 500 headquarters, local advertising, media and marketing agencies are turning New York, Los Angeles and Chicago agencies on their ear. It’s a no-brainer that these top 20 women will continue to help make that happen.

Two Moroch Family of Companies’ employees have recently been named to the inaugural class of AAF Dallas Shining Stars. Elba Intriago, Co-Founder and Executive Vice President at Inspire Agency, and Kala Brock-Stevens, Senior Media Specialist at NEXTMedia, are among those recognized by AAF Dallas as the 20 best women in the local advertising industry who are breaking glass ceilings, serving as thought leaders and paving the way for generations to come. Elba Intriago – Co-Founder and Executive Vice President, Inspire Agency

Elba Intriago – Co-Founder and Executive Vice President, Inspire Agency

Elba Intriago is the Co-Founder and Executive Vice President of Inspire Agency. In this role, she oversees the executive team, leads development plans and strategic partnerships. For Inspire, Elba initially led the McDonald’s account team, focusing on the evolving Hispanic consumer segment that includes the bicultural-millennial youth and affluent Latinas. In addition to McDonald’s, her advertising experience also includes Anheuser-Busch, ALLTEL/Verizon Communications, Visionworks, Avocados from Mexico, Attachmate Latin America and Compass Bank/BBV. Her agency credentials and international business experience in Latin America, combined with Wall Street experience, have helped her become the advertising leader she is today. Elba has also served as a TV spokesperson for brands and non-profits, connecting with a core demographic: moms and hardworking Latinas like herself.

Kala Brock-Stevens, Senior Media Specialist, NEXTMedia

Kala Brock-Stevens is a Senior Media Specialist at NEXTMedia, the national media planning and buying arm of the Moroch Family of Companies in Dallas. Kala works with brands such as Texas A&M University, FASTSIGNS, Insperity, Lampe Berger, Visionworks, and Dickies. Kala is a co-founder of Ad2Dallas, an affiliate chapter of AAF Dallas for advertising and marketing professionals under the age of 32. With Ad2Dallas, Kala has helped lead the chapter to become the largest Ad2 chapter in the US. During her time with Ad2, Kala has helped elevate Ad2Dallas’ Public Service competition campaigns for deserving Dallas-area non-profits: Play Like a Girl!, Commit!, and My Possibilities. As this year’s Director of Club Achievement, Ad2Dallas won 2nd Place in Public Service, 3rd Place in Government, and 3rd Place in Membership across AAF’s National Club Achievement Awards for Division V clubs. In 2015, Kala participated in the 4A’s Institute of Advertising Studies (IAAS) developing a campaign for La Quinta. Kala graduated from Texas State University with a B.A. in Advertising in 2010 and was named Most Outstanding Advertising Student of 2010. While at Texas State, she participated as Media Director in the National Student Advertising Competition on the 2010 State Farm campaign. That year, Texas State won Best Media Plan from AAF District 10. The team proceeded to national competition at ADMERICA and won 2nd place. She is currently seeking her MBA from Sul Ross State University.

Here at AAF Dallas, we are always seeking ways to celebrate and support the advertising community in Dallas.  We were recently inspired by our own Stan Richards being inducted into the National Advertising Hall of Fame and other programs outside our market, like Ad Age’s Women to Watch. We thought…how are we doing here in Dallas?

Curious, we googled “the top women in Dallas advertising” and you would not believe the results. Instead of finding women who are producing thought-provoking and innovative work, breaking through barriers to create something new, or forging partnerships that drive growth, we found “The 10 Most Beautiful Women in Dallas.”

Hmm. We thought…Dallas, we can do better than that!

We believe ambition, work ethic, creativity, and leadership are qualities to celebrate and elevate. We believe when you get 20 incredible women in a room, great things happen. We believe it’s time that the nation recognizes our city as the talented advertising market that we are…and so the AAF Dallas Shining Star program was born.

We asked the community to nominate fierce females in Dallas advertising, and we’re impressed with the caliber of nominees we were presented with. We asked our board of directors and leaders from other markets to make the selection for our first class of Shining Stars.
