Spotlight Interview | Burning Tractor Creates Over 1500 VFX Scenes for Amazon Prime Series “Panic” | So Cool!

Written by AdChat DFW

Burning Tractor, a Dallas-based VFX shop, recently completed over 1500 visual effect scenes for the new Amazon Prime Series “Panic.”  It’s an American teen drama streaming series created and written by Lauren Oliver based on her 2014 novel of the same name. The series stars Olivia Welch, Mike Faist, and Jessica Sula. The series premiered on Amazon Prime Video on May 28, 2021.

The premise of the story is in the summer after their senior year, 47 graduates participate in the annual Panic competition. Winning Panic with a cash prize of $50,000 will allow them to escape their small Texas town of Carp. After the rules change, however, they must decide what risks they will take in order to escape their home town.

How did Burning Tractor get this work? Jump back two years when Wes Myers, Director/VFX Supervisor/Founder of Burning Tractor received a out-of-the-blue phone call from Marc Sadeghi, global head of visual effects for Amazon Studios. Apparently, a mutual acquaintance has provided a word-of-mouth reference for Burning Tractor. After the usual vetting, they were awarded the gig.

We had a chance to grab Wes Myers for a quick interview about this massive project that presented more than its share of VFX challenges. Watch the interview to find out more.
