Sawtooth is Elevating Post-Production Consultancy | Check Out Our “5 Questions With” Interview with Chris Salters

Written by AdChat DFW

This is for producers struggling to navigate the complexities of post-production workflows, especially when managing the demands of AI, emerging video tech, and high-end animation and graphics. It can be overwhelming. Imagine having a single resource with the expertise, technical skills, and creative ability to handle it for you. Today, we’re diving into “5 Questions With” Chris Salters from Sawtooth, the new post-production shop designed to streamline the process, simplify tool management, and give producers and creative teams the freedom to create great ideas for their clients.

Patty Harrison | AdChat DFW: Chris, how did you come up with the idea for Sawtooth?

Chris Salters | Sawtooth: The idea for Sawtooth came to me as I was working in my freelance capacity.  I would work with different agencies and in-house creative teams for brands where their producers would be connecting workflow between motion graphic artists, editors, finishers, etcetera. The problem was they didn’t always get consistent results and experienced issues when juggling freelancers and other vendors on the post-production side. I thought it would be nice to lean on a specialist in the post-production world with a trusted team behind them that producers and creatives could partner with to more efficiently produce deliverables.

Patty Harrison | AdChat DFW: How are you going to operate differently than other post houses?

Chris Salters | Sawtooth: Basically, it comes down to the way Sawtooth is structured. Typically, when a client works with a larger post-production studio, they’ll need to conform to their in-house structure. Sawtooth flips that on its head, we’re there to mesh with your team. We integrate with the way you like to work and use our workflows to guide you through the post-production process.

Patty Harrison | AdChat DFW: Give us a good example of how you’ve streamlined post-production.

Chris Salters | Sawtooth: Last year, Visit Fort Worth approached me to help them with their Annual Meeting, held at the Fort Worth Convention Center.  In the past, the team had worked with multiple vendors to pull all the creative assets together for this event, but were looking for a way to simplify.

In 2024, they relied on Sawtooth to manage creating the video and motion graphics for the entire production. We not only handled the promotional content for the event, but also the videos used in the presentations, as well as the motion graphics for the giant screens that were surrounding the stage and televisions in the convention center.

We then took it a step further by going on-site as they were setting up the event itself and worked alongside the live production team in charge of stage and screen rigging to make real-time adjustments to the content to ensure it looked great on the screens during the event.

Patty Harrison | AdChat DFW: What are some of the brands you and your team have worked with?

Chris Salters | Sawtooth: We’ve worked with brands like FedEx, Southwest Airlines, Haggar, Hulu, Comerica Bank, Kohler, Academy, and others. Most recently, we did a spec job for Trilogy Studios in Roanoke.  We partnered with Manifest Imageworks to create a Jeep commercial that was shot almost entirely on Trilogy’s giant LED volume stage. If you haven’t been up there to check that place out, it is pretty fantastic.

Patty Harrison | AdChat DFW: During the process, will you continue to collaborate with the producers and creative team?

Chris Salters | Sawtooth: Absolutely. I mean, that’s the only way to work in this business. Especially when we’re positioned as the post-production arm for your creative project. We’re there to work the way that you like to work, whether you like to go with rounds of notes and revisions back and forth, or if you want to do live directed edits via Zoom or in person, we can also facilitate those.

Patty Harrison | AdChat DFW: It seems like you are answering the next-level-up issues, especially with the AI and all the new technology that producers are going to have questions about. You’ll be filling that niche.

Chris Salters | Sawtooth: The deal is you need a nerd and I’m the nerd with a company that can step in and help you make it a lot easier to cut the complexity.

Patty Harrison | AdChat DFW: Thus, the name, Sawtooth!  Thanks for the interview, Chris and good luck!

Chris Salters | Sawtooth: You got it. Thank you, Patty.
