If you’re in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, you might spot Hollywood actor Kurt Russell around. “The Thing” actor joins Michelle Pfeiffer as a series regular in the new Yellowstone drama spinoff, The Madison, according to a report from Deadline on Friday, September 4.
The Madison series follows a New York City family in the Madison River Valley of central Montana, according to Deadline. It has been called a “heartfelt exploration of grief and human connection. The series is produced by Taylor Sheridan, an Academy Award-nominated writer and director known for co-creating the hit western drama Yellowstone and its prequels.
It’s unclear if Russell starred in the currently unreleased first season of the show, which was filmed in Montana and in North Texas. However, the second season is slated to film in Fort Worth this month, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
Sheridan has enjoyed filming in Texas. He reportedly began filming Rio Palo in a tiny Texas town in Dallas. The City of Ferris announced that film production company Paramount Pictures picked it as the “primary filming location” for the spinoff. Located roughly 20 miles from the Dallas metropolitan area, ranchlands and historic architecture take up much of its 4.8 square miles. It will serve as a backdrop to the series.
Last year, the production team of 1923 filmed in downtown San Antonio. The cast of Yellowstone was also seen filming some scenes of its final season in North Texas in August 2024.
