We are excited to announce that Groove Jones is an early access development partner with Magic Leap. Magic Leap is a technology company that has raised $4.5 billion dollars for the development of a revolutionary new HMD (head mounted device) to be used for AR experiences.
Their new headset, the Magic Leap One superimposes 3D computer-generated imagery over a user’s real world view.
Magic Leap is building the next computing platform, powering experiences and tools that seamlessly blend the digital and physical world. The robust sensor suite on Magic Leap One detects surfaces, planes and objects, allowing for digital reconstruction of your physical surroundings. The result is a system that sees what you see, allowing lightfield objects to not only exist in the physical world but actually interact with it.
Groove Jones, a company formed to fill the void in the marketplace for intelligent, sophisticated and interactive technologies for XR – Extended Reality platforms. The Leap One is hardware built for XR. Extended Reality (XR) is a term referring to all real-and-virtual combined environments and human-machine interactions generated by computer technology and wearables. It includes representative forms such as Augmented Reality (AR) and Mixed Reality (MR).
Earlier this year it was announced that the Leap One uses Digital Lightfield technology. Lightfield photonics generate digital light at different depths and blend seamlessly with natural light to produce lifelike digital objects that coexist in the real world.
Below are a few photos of the Leap One, the first consumer product.
