Take it from the talking iguana: Travelers are going to like new Getaways by Southwest.

The speaking reptile pops up in the first of two new commercials from GSD&M touting the airline’s new vacation-booking platform. The spots are designed to spotlight the ease and flexibility of booking flights, hotels and other packages through the new service. The campaign breaks this week across TV and digital.

The new initiative marks the airline’s first in-house packaged vacations product. The Getaways by Southwest offering bundles flights with hotels, car rentals and ground transportation to destinations including Las Vegas, Orlando, Hawaii, Cancun, Punta Cana and Montego Bay.

Customers earn Rapid Rewards points on their bookings, get two free checked bags and can cancel for travel credits valid for 18 months. Packages can also be modified without incurring change fees—policies that mirror the carrier’s long-standing approach to customer-friendly flexibility.

Southwest is also extending the push to social media, launching a dedicated Instagram account for Getaways. The feed will work in tandem with the airline’s main channel, offering destination inspiration, promotional tie-ins and behind-the-scenes content as the airline looks to cultivate a community of travel-focused followers.

In addition to the paid advertising and social rollout, the brand is organizing in-person activations in several of its hub cities. Free public events are scheduled in Denver, Chicago, San Diego, Nashville, and Baltimore, where attendees can explore the Getaways platform and engage with branded experiences designed to bring the campaign to life.

Influencers including @whereisbriggs and @maxmilespoints will further amplify the message with personal travel content, capped by a group trip to Cancun in October to showcase the new service in action.
