DallasMeetup founder Carson Gibbons is expanding the organization’s industry-specific focus with the acquisition of YallStreetMeetup.com, positioning the new platform around the growing financial services and fintech community in North Texas.
The move comes as major financial institutions continue to increase their presence in the region. Scotiabank has opened a regional hub in Victory Park, JPMorganChase has built a significant presence in Plano, Goldman Sachs is developing a Dallas campus expected to accommodate more than 5,000 employees, Bank of America is preparing to move into its new Uptown tower, and Morgan Stanley recently announced a new U.S. hub in Dallas expected to create more than 3,800 jobs.
While many of these companies have been investing in North Texas for years, the scale and concentration of the current activity is creating a different kind of opportunity for the region.
Gibbons stated, “Y’all Street is becoming a lot more than a nickname. It’s here, it’s growing and our team at DallasMeetup wants to be poised to meet the social and business networking needs of the firms represented in the new financial cooridor. This augments other vertical-specific additions to the portfolio like CPGMeetup.com, NonprofitMeetup.com & TransportationMeetup.com”
Y’all Street Meetup will build on DallasMeetup’s existing networking model, which Gibbons describes as a big-tent, industry-agnostic community designed to increase connections across professional sectors. The organization has also been developing vertical-specific opportunities, including a fintech cohort and programming connected to Dallas’ emerging financial ecosystem.
The new platform gives DallasMeetup a dedicated brand for connecting financial services, fintech, investment and related business communities as the sector continues to grow in North Texas.
The Y’all Street Meetup site is expected to serve as the organization develops its finance-focused programming.
