The film, “Play Date,” which premieres and this year’s Dallas International Film Festival, follows two estranged mothers who reunite on the anniversary of their daughter’s last play date. That fateful day of a school shooting left one child dead and the other unharmed. The film explores how these women have dealt with the reality of the tragedy and also how they reunite in friendship despite of the pain they have endured.
The film is the directorial debut of Amberlee Colson and Laura Campbell, who also star in the movie. AdChat DFW’s Patty Harrison had a chance to chat with them and delve deeper into challenges of how the actors prepared for and created this glimpse into a world that few of us want to enter.
Audiences can see Play Date at the Dallas International Film Festival on Saturday, April 28th at 8:00 p.m. and Sunday, April 29th at 1:15 p.m. at the Violet Crown Dallas. More tickets and information available at: https://bit.ly/PlayDateDIFF

Smith-Cameron (“Succession”), Tony, Obie, and Drama Desk Award Winner Reed Birney (“The Menu”, “MASS”), and 2024 SXSW Narrative Feature and Jury Award-winning Director Tracie Laymon (“Bob Trevino Likes It”).
