Violet Crown Cinema Opening this December in West Village | Replacing The Magnolia

Written by Ariel Herr

Violet Crown Cinema will open its first Dallas theater just in time for the holiday movie season. Located in Uptown’s West Village, the site was formerly home to The Magnolia Theater and has been completely renovated by Violet Crown, which will open in early December and is hiring for all positions now.

“We’re delighted to bring film back to Uptown with a premiere cinema experience in the heart of Dallas,” said Bill Banowsky, founder of Violet Crown and Magnolia Pictures, the original owner of The Magnolia Theater. “I built my first movie theater at this location 20 years ago and am thrilled to be back here with our Violet Crown concept.”

This will be Violet Crown’s fourth location. It opened its first location in downtown Austin in 2011, and today operates locations in Santa Fe, New Mexico and Charlottesville, Virginia.

Violet Crown Dallas will feature digital cinema projection, state-of-the-art sound, and luxury reclining seating in all five auditoriums. The upscale cinema concept will offer traditional cinema concessions, a kitchen serving made-to-order food, and a bar with rotating selections of craft beer, wine, and cocktails, all of which can be enjoyed in-theater using each seat’s fold-out tray.

This Saturday, Nov. 19, Violet Crown is hosting a job fair for various positions, including managers, front of house, and back of house from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., with interviews conducted on-site in advance of the early December opening.

“Movie nerds, craft beer lovers, great food enthusiasts, and believers in freedom of movie expression without judgment – that’s who we are at Violet Crown Cinema,” said Violet Crown Dallas General Manager Andrew Swain. “We look forward to growing and building yet another best stage crew and new hospitality stars here in Big D! ”
