Dive into summer with Southwest Airlines and Discovery Channel’s “Shark Week,” with “Fin Flights” and jaw-some inflight content.

On Monday, July 1, Southwest Airlines hosted a surprise “Fin Flight” to celebrate the 11th year of partnership between Southwest Airlines and Shark Week. The carrier began the celebration with a Shark trivia game in the gate area at Dallas (Love Field), giving away beach balls and sunglasses. The shark-tastic fun continued as Southwest Employees surprised Customers onboard a special “Fin Flight” to Los Angeles (LAX), and Customers received Shark Week’s iconic fin hats and eye masks as they boarded their flight as a fun memento of the celebration. Additionally, Chompie, the official Shark Week mascot, even made a surprise appearance to take photos with his fans and hopped on a plane to LAX! Once onboard, Customers (21+) were offered a complimentary alcoholic beverage, including the Shark Week Special, which featured a gummy shark garnish. Southwest Employees, who were wearing special co-branded Shark Week t-shirts greeted the Customers once the flight landed at LAX.

The Jawsome fun doesn’t stop there. Southwest will host another surprise “Fin Flight” during Shark Week, which starts Sunday, July 7, 8:00 p.m.

Customers can celebrate Shark Week all month long with Shark Week exclusive inflight content. Beginning July 1, Southwest Customers will have exclusive inflight access to “Shark Week” On Demand TV series onboard the Inflight Entertainment Portal, which features free “Shark Week” episodes for Customers to sink their teeth into, including a never-been-seen before episode of “Sharktopia,” to watch ahead of its network premiere on Sunday, July 7.
