Turning spontaneous pet play into stylized moments — without losing what made them genuine.
For this recent campaign with GS&F and Playology, Dallas-based Side Chops was brought on for VFX supervision and post-production to help bring a playful, design-forward vision to life — while keeping the heart of the performances real.
Playology made it a priority that all toy interaction came from genuine pet behavior. No trick shots, no staged choreography — just letting the animals do their thing. That meant capturing lots of real-time footage, then finding creative ways in post to spotlight the most expressive moments.
We used AI-assisted frame interpolation to stretch those moments into slow-motion, then layered in 2D graphics — glowing particles, orbiting peanuts, and DNA-style helixes — to add visual energy. One shot was even rebuilt in 3D so we could animate a virtual camera move and give the scene extra depth.
The end result: a series of surreal, slowed-down moments that celebrate both the toys and the spontaneity of the pets playing with them.
Big thanks to GS&F and Playology for letting us help bring this one from script to screen.
