Nostalgic Spot Using AI? | Chris Salters Edits AI Images for Fender Guitars

Written by Chris Salters

Out of a growing curiosity I recently embarked on an AI filmmaking adventure, spawned from the fear (not sure that’s the best word) of getting left behind in this rapidly advancing medium. After learning some tips and tricks from champions of AI filmmaking like Caleb Ward, I used various tools to create a very simple commercial for Fender Guitars from scratch. I wanted to see how realistic and broadcast-ready the AI-generated content could be, and what challenges and opportunities it posed for the creative process.

In short, the process was tedious and I missed the human element we all accidentally or purposefully bring to the table. The tech isn’t there yet for realistic broadcast-quality spots, but wow – we aren’t far away either.
2024 will be a very interesting year.
