Last year, when I first visited the new 3008, now located at 4439 Kelton Drive, I felt like I had stepped into a beach house in Santa Monica, instead of a nearby Dallas intersection of Inwood Road and Lovers Lane.
During my tour of the new shop, I saw familiar reminders from the previous location. The Guns & Roses pinball machine, signed by Slash, large-framed photos from the Farmer Ram Truck commercial which has now garnered over 24 million views on YouTube, and many of the custom furnishings that once lived at 3008 Ross Avenue.
My tour also uncovered hidden machine rooms, a precisely balanced audio room, as well as flame & graphic rooms. It offers all the bells and whistles of a full post facility, with a homey, California-style atmosphere. The oasis feel was still very real.
I asked Brent Herrington, owner/editor at 3008, how the past year and the new location have panned out.
“Wow, what a year,” shared Brent Herrington, owner and editor at 3008. “Instead of having 20 people working here every day, we have expanded! In addition to working with our beloved local artists and clients, 3008 is working with additional new artists and clients, literally, from all over the world. We have an effects artist helping us from Romania, new clients in New York, that shared the experience of delivering ice cream to everyone during a Zoom session….so creative and too fun!”
He proceeded to fill me in on a few of their exciting new projects.
This is fun social media video for Shavelogic, produced by The Richards Group. It portrays hockey players shaving off their playoff beards after winning the Stanley Cup.
Here’s a unique spot we helped Launch Agency with for clicklane, an online car buying site, that features a couch that drives from frame-to frame, selling a new car-buying experience.
Next is a new corporate identity video produced by HAVAS-X-NY for ARENA Pharmaceuticals, that entails parallaxing techniques and visual effects.
As well as a new branding campaign that Moroch completed for Methodist Health System.
Brent added, “Additional projects and future requests are providing the opportunity to work on longer formatted projects. Currently in motion, is an independent short film scheduled to release in October 2021 and talks for two new documentaries. Very Exciting Stuff!!
It has been so nice having more time to focus on editorial and getting to see our clients in person again. All, of course, while providing a Covid safe environment.
And lastly, I am looking forward to traveling and meeting some of our new clients in person. Colorado and California are already scheduled. I’m not sure if they know that I actually exist from the waist down.”
I can only conclude that this has certainly been a whirlwind year for 3008. Less has become more, more or less.
