Presented by Big Day Pictures and PolkaWorks in association with the Vaclav Havel Czech School of Dallas and Sokol – DallasCzech That Film Texas has brought the best of Czech contemporary cinema to the Lone Star State for the last 12 years.

Fresh off of sold out screenings in Austin in April, this year’s  two-day event kicks off on Saturday, May 6th at 7pm at the Violet Crown Cinema in Dallas with the comedy / drama SOMEWHERE OVER THE CHEMTRAILS — Official Selection at the 72nd Berlinale IFF and winner of Best Feature at the Czech national festival Finale – Plzen along with Best Screenplay at Beijing IFF. After delivery van drives into the crowd during the Easter market in a Czech village and hits a resident, the driver flees, turning the villagers against one another while the volunteer fire department clumsily turns itself into a local militia to supposedly keep everyone safe. A laconic film about the causes of prejudice, racism and exclusion.

Sunday’s 4pm matinee features BUKO by heralded Czech director Alice Nellis, whose narrative feature Mamas & Papas screened at the Dallas IFF in 2011. Winner of the Czech Oscar for Best Supporting Roll (Martha Issova) this comedy / drama finds Jarmila just after losing her husband unexpectedly and facing a decision to patiently wait out the rest of her life or plunge into an adventure with an uncertain ending. A number of unexpected events almost makes the decision for her!
