Addison, Texas-based HCK2 Marketing + Communications is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, a milestone that founder, president, and CEO, Heather Capps, believes is the result of endurance, hard work, timing, and most importantly, creating happy clients and staff.

HCK2 was originally called Michael & Partners, after founder George Michael, when it opened in 1997. Capps was the agency’s first employee and later served as creative director, vice president, and ultimately president of the agency, purchasing it from Michael when he was ready to retire.

“My vision was to build a different kind of agency,” Capps said. “One where every client feels understood, loved, and amazed. I wanted to build a team that could use its depth of experience and insights to define, differentiate, and amplify our clients’ brands.”

Capps rebranded the agency to HCK2 Marketing + Communications in 2004, the initials representing her name and the names of her daughters, Kaileigh and Kamryn. As the industry landscape began to change and their client roster grew, she began adding to the agencies list of services, evolving it into a full-service powerhouse that offers creative advertising, design and branding, social media and digital communication, public relations, web services and strategic consultation.

Her small but mighty team of well-seasoned creatives and communicators have served hundreds of clients over the years in an array of industries including construction and engineering, cybersecurity, energy, healthcare, finance, nonprofit, real estate, restaurants, tech, sports, and entertainment, and more.

As the agency grew, Capps placed great emphasis on staying true to its core values of living a balanced life, supporting individual growth and knowledge-seeking, giving back to the community, and creating raving fans out of its team members, clients, and colleagues. She believes this is the secret to its success.

HCK2 Founder Reflects On 25 Successful Years In The DFW Marketing Communications Business“We’re a team here and we walk the walk,” Capps said. “We’re more than just a talented group of professionals. We’re always striving to know more, do better, empower each other, make each day count, and not simply deliver.”

The agency overcame its biggest challenge in 2020, when the pandemic disrupted business, resulting in a significant client and revenue loss. Capps said the climb back is something she is most proud of because it resulted in a stronger team and earned the agency a spot as one of the “Top PR Agencies in America” by Forbes in 2021.

The agency has also consistently ranked as a Top Women-Owned business and Top Communications agency by Dallas Business Journal for the past 20 years and has been featured in Dallas Business Journals’ Women in Business and D CEO 500, among other accolades.

Capps said her future goals for the agency are to keep building its reputation in the market, holding true to its core values, and to keep growing and expanding its service offerings to serve more clients.

“When I first started down this road, I had a deep belief in what this agency could be and what I wanted it to become,” Capps said. “What we have achieved, built, and endured has far exceeded all my expectations. I’m so proud of where we are today and so grateful for the relationships we’ve built and the talented people I get to work with each year. It has been one of the most rewarding journeys of my life.”
