AI-Powered Aura Photo Experience at Coachella for Method
Revolution Marketing worked with Groove Jones to create the AI Aura Photo Experience for Method, a body care products brand under SC Johnson, to engage music fans at this year’s Coachella event.
The photo experience leverages AI technology to artistically reimagine attendees’ photos based on their responses to method Aura-themed questions. The final output was a personalized, stylized portrait that reflected their “Aura” in one of three styles: Pure Peace, Simply Nourish, or Daily Zen.The primary goal was to create a mobile application that engaged users through interactive art generation and streamlined the process from photo capture to retrieval. By integrating technology into the method brand experience, the project aimed to foster memorable interactions that resonated with the festival-goers’ sense of creativity and individuality.
The method tent at Coachella was between the Sonora and Gobi stages and stood out with its bright neon bubbles, making it a distinct landmark among the festival’s many attractions.
Inside the Method Tent
Inside, the setting was designed by Revolution Marketing for comfort and interaction, featuring neon lighting and cloud-like lounge chairs.
This setup encouraged relaxation and piqued attendees’ curiosity about the AI app experience.
Here, festival-goers could easily engage with the app, exploring their personal “Aura” through the Photo App station, located within the method tent.
By answering a few questions, they could customize and generate their Aura.
In seconds, they would receive an AI-generated portrait that captured their vibe in a creative, memorable way.
This area quickly became a favorite spot for attendees looking to add a unique, personalized touch to their festival journey.
Experience Walkthrough
When visitors approach the iPad, they’ll be greeted by a screen that radiates a method brand aesthetic, asking the question, “Discover your aura?”
Users will respond to three specific questions:
- Where is the best place to spend quality time in nature?
- Which creature would you be for a day?
- Which color from the options below is your favorite?
Following their responses, users will take a photo of themselves, with the option to either confirm or retake the image to ensure it captures them to their liking.
Lastly, users will enter their phone number to receive their personalized AI-generated aura image directly on their mobile device. We then processed the guest’s photo and their question inputs on the cloud to generate four images which were then texted to every guest for social sharing.
Every image was also branded with the method logo.
Application Development and Design
The App development focused on creating a user-friendly interface that could handle the complexities of AI-driven art generation. The technology leveraged our AI Personalization Engine™ and our GrooveTech CRM for registration and media delivery. AWS and its GPU instances supported the backend, ensuring the App performed efficiently under the high demand of Coachella’s large audience.
