Many moons ago, an art director met a copywriter and later, the pair was introduced to an account director. In 2003, this dynamic trio launched the Launch Agency, pun intended. Art director Dave Wilgus, copywriter Diane Seimetz, and account director Michael Boone became entrepreneurs and created their own brand that specializes in helping companies introduce or reimagine their product or service. Twenty years later, the three partners share insights on their industry and how they have built an award-winning organization.

“We saw an opportunity to work with entrepreneurial businesses to help them evolve and innovate,” explained Launch principal Diane Seimetz. “As entrepreneurs ourselves, we have a unique perspective on developing strategy and connecting to audiences. The need for big ideas today is just as relevant as it was 20 years ago.”

Early relationships with brands such as American Airlines, Borden Dairy, Match.com, Paris Las Vegas Hotel & Casino, Sam’s Club and Yum! Brands, among others, helped establish the agency’s reputation for producing strategic, compelling creative. That exemplary determination, talent and work product continues today, embodied by the agency’s positioning, “Let’s Go Beyond.”

“When we started our company, the industry looked very different,” said Launch principal Michael Boone. “What we have learned in the last 20 years is that we can quickly become a part of a client’s team and dig into their DNA to ascertain what differentiates them from their competitors. What makes Launch unique from other firms is our ability to see the organization from the perspectives of the leadership team and the target audience we need to reach.”

Launch continues to work with big companies such as long-time clients Baylor Scott & White Health and Park Place Dealerships, as well as Highland Homes, Evergreen Power and YPO, to keep their brands top of mind.

“Park Place has some of the most exciting automotive brands in the marketplace,” said Launch principal David Wilgus. “When we started working with them 20 years ago, they needed a compelling concept to differentiate them from their competitors. We developed their brand as ‘Experts in Excellence’ and that positioned them as experts in sales…experts in service…and experts in relationships. We helped them grow from a successful local dealership group to a thriving, billion-dollar company.”

In 2022, Launch worked with Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott and Baylor Scott & White Health to shine a light on the early detection of cancer and Dak’s foundation, Faith Fight Finish, for the NFL’s “My Cause My Cleats” initiative. Launch concepted and created a film documenting the evolution of the cleats that Dak would wear in a game against the Indianapolis Colts to bring awareness to colon cancer.

Launch also uses their talents to help non-profits soar in a busy, distracted world. The agency has committed time and resources to organizations such as Children’s Advocacy Center of Collin County, Daymark Living, Poston Gardens, and The Ashford Rise School of Dallas among others. Lift is the agency’s internal initiative to assist organizations with their advertising needs, donations and volunteers.

“We have huge hearts for helping others,” said Boone. “Our team loves to support causes that need an experienced team to assist with their marketing efforts. We’re happy to lend our talents to making our community stronger.”

LAUNCH Creates ‘The Bolt’ Superhero for Evergreen Power Solutions | Taking Back the Power from Big Power

It’s a situation Texas homeowners know all too well—paying too much for electricity, but feeling powerless to do anything about it. Evergreen Power Solutions addresses this pain point head-on for their members by signing them up for the best plans and managing their electricity for them, saving time, money and hassle.

That’s the type of energy champion every Texan needs, and now Launch has given this hero a name: The Bolt. He’s a refreshingly relatable superhero who makes it his mission to expose Big Power’s schemes and to bring truth, justice and savings to electricity customers.

Launch brought The Bolt to life in a series of animated videos in classic comic book style, laced with tongue-in-cheek humor. They are set to debut on streaming TV and social media channels, including Instagram and Facebook.

This new campaign promises to build on the already impressive growth Evergreen has seen during their partnership with Launch, with double digit growth in member signups versus last year.

LAUNCH Agency Creates Fun AR Experience for BSWH with Dallas Stars Player Jake Oettinger

We recently teamed up with Baylor Scott & White Health and the Dallas Stars to create an AR experience leveraging one of the biggest “stars” of the Stars, Jake Oettinger. As the team’s goalie, Oettinger always stays focused, motivated and determined, which makes him the perfect voice to inspire fans along their health journey.

 

Working with Dallas AR and VR experts, Groove Jones, we developed a look-alike Oettinger in the form of a mini-AR Jake. Only it isn’t actually Jake: It’s his inner voice which we named Motivotter, a combination of his nickname “Otter” and “motivation.” The experience allows users to place Motivotter on any surface, next to anything they’ve achieved or want to achieve. Like eating healthier, working out more, walking their dog—you name it, Motivotter is there celebrating your victories with cheers, back flips and a variety and dance moves.

To launch the experience, we partnered with award-winning director, John Suits to create a teaser-like trailer introducing Motivotter to fans. The film, along with numerous digital and OOH executions, invites users to “Unleash Motivotter” through Instagram or TikTok. All executions drive to motivotter.com.

Dak Wears Cleats For a Cause | LAUNCH Creates Video for Early Cancer Detection for BSWH

Every season, the NFL highlights players and the important causes they support through the My Cause My Cleats initiative. This year, Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott teamed up with shoe designer Jake Danklefs of Dank & Co and Baylor Scott & White Health to shine a light on his Faith Fight Finish foundation and the early detection of cancer.

Working with directors Andy Mahr and Ashton Rodgers, we set out to capture the making of Dak’s cleats from start to finish. Shot in three parts, the film documents the initial zoom call, the design behind the cleats, and the emotional moment of Jake delivering the cleats to Dak. From the beginning, there was a special connection between Dak and shoe designer, Jake Danklefs, as both lost a parent to colon cancer. The final design beautifully represents Dak’s foundation and his mom’s love of Betty Boop to raise awareness about the importance of early detection.

Dak will wear his custom cleats during the NFL My Cause My Cleats game between the Dallas Cowboys vs Indianapolis Colts on December 4, 2022. The American Cancer Society says the earlier you catch cancer the less time it has to grow or spread. This often means less-invasive cancer treatment and a better survival rate. Launch Agency Creates Animated Celebration for Baylor Scott & White’s US News Ranking

Each year, US News & World Report ranks the top hospitals in the nation. And this year, Launch Agency’s client, Baylor Scott & White Health, won in a wide range of categories. This is great news for the healthcare system, but it’s even better news for their patients because it means they are getting care they know they can rely on. So, Launch’s goal was to spread this exciting news across Texas with an integrated campaign that felt unique and refreshing and that put patients directly in the spotlight.

They achieved this by using fun animated characters living their best lives with the message, “When you get better, so do we.” To create these cheerful characters, Launch partnered an animation company based in London called Cabeza Patata who immediately understood the vision and did an exceptional job bringing it to life. In the words of one of their founders and artists, Katie Menzies, “The health sector is often associated with fear and uncertainty and this campaign turns it around by communicating the other side: new beginnings, optimism and the joy of good health. We worked hard on putting all of this into the characters’ attitudes, the colours and the animations.”

LAUNCH Agency Creates Heartfelt Spots for Baylor Scott & White Health | Encouraging Vaccination

CHALLENGE:
In 2021, the mere mention of the Covid-19 vaccine was dividing our country, splitting up families and friendships, and creating a frenzy of lies and misinformation all over the internet. With only 43.9% of Texans vaccinated, and the new, more powerful Delta variant on the rise, our partners at Baylor Scott & White Health came to us to help them increase our state’s vaccination rate. At the time, Texas had one of the highest rates of infection in the country with data showing that 99.5% of Texans who were dying from COVID were indeed unvaccinated.

THE SOLUTION:
So how do you convince the inconvincible?

Research showed us the best way to reach the unvaccinated was through their vaccinated friends and family. We just needed to help them Find the Words.

So we filmed three courageous families who each shared their story of losing a loved one to Covid-19 who was not vaccinated. We also worked closely with Baylor Scott & White Health to create a website (BSWHealth.com/FindTheWords) filled with resources to help the vaccinated reframe the conversation with their friends and family to change minds and save lives.

The campaign launched during Dallas Cowboys games and has been running during local news broadcasts in central and north Texas. Currently, 53.5% of Texans are vaccinated, a 4% increase since launch. So clearly, we still have work to do. The more we share these stories, the more lives we can save.

Launch Agency Creates “Couch Guy” Spot for Asbury Automotive Group’s Online Car Buying Site | Funny!

Asbury Automotive Group, one of the largest dealership networks in the country, was looking for a high-impact way to promote the launch of Clicklane, their brand-new online car-buying site. Unlike the competition, Clicklane is 100% online, with no need to visit a dealership. It’s also the first to offer both new and used cars, and to have the support of local dealers.

Because Clicklane is such a unique offering, and because the online car sales space is becoming increasingly competitive, Launch Agency proposed a TV commercial that would really stand out. Then, we created “Couch Guy”—a super-relaxed, supremely confident spokesperson who literally rolls into a new ride without ever leaving the sofa.

 he client was extremely pleased with the commercial, as it helped them with implementation and training across their dealership network. They particularly were impressed by how it set Clicklane apart while playfully poking fun at the competition. Since featuring the “Couch Guy” spot on their website during Clicklane’s introductory phase, they’ve seen a substantial increase in online purchases made through the service.

Launch Agency Creates Multi-Channel Campaign for Baylor Scott & White Health App

The ask:
Baylor Scott & White Health, the largest not-for-profit healthcare system in Texas asked us to create a multi-channel campaign to promote virtual visits and health management through their MyBSWHealth app. With many patients putting off in-person visits due to COVID, we were challenged to redefine “connection” and promote the empowering benefits of digital health using this award-wining tool.

Our approach:
Rather than focusing on app technology we wanted people to see what virtual care built for real-life looks like. To show how our digital health app fits seamlessly into your life we took viewers on a sound-driven, fast-paced journey showing how patients’ everyday healthcare challenges can be easily solved by the MyBSWHealth app.

Media:
The campaign consists of television, OOH, print and digital.

Results:
The campaign has only been in market a few months, so we don’t have final results yet, but the early results on app downloads are encouraging.

Launch Wins Silver Graphis Award for Park Place Volvo Billboard

As part of the 2020 marketing plan (pre-pandemic) Park Place wanted to promote their Volvo dealership and, specifically, the all new XC90 SUV. We contracted a high profile, heavily-trafficed billboard on the Dallas North Tollway, southbound, at Forest Lane, to generate awareness.

As agency folk know, OOH can be an extremely difficult medium to deliver interesting, strategic creative in 7 words or less. And, for this assignment, we were limited to using manufacturer-provided photography. However, rather than being fenced in by the mandatories, the creative team rose to the challenge of concepting differentiating work.

The creative was in the air in January of 2020 and the ad was also repurposed for other applications. But it was this billboard that was honored with a Silver Graphis Award.
