TJ Calloway, Audio Engineer, Sound Designer, Mixer extraordinaire, has been so very busy this year and wanted to share some of his work with us. Thank you TJ and here we go!
“Crescendo” – A documentary on The Cliburn Piano Competition. This had a South Korean Premiere earlier this year, and just premiered locally last month. Worldwide distribution coming soon! I was the sound designer and re-recording mixer.
“Bastards of Soul” – A documentary by director Paul Levatino on the local band and the life of singer Chadwick Murray. I was the sound designer and re-recording mixer. This will hit the film festival circuit next year.
“Afro-Latino Travels with Kim Haas” – A great PBS travels series focusing on the history and culture of Afro-Latinos in the Caribbean and South America. It is currently airing on select PBS Stations across the nation and on the Create TV app. I was the sound designer and re-recording mixer.
‘TCU 150“ A documentary celebrating TCU’s 150th anniversary. I was the sound designer and re-recording mixer.
“The K-Town Killer” – A short film that premiered at Tribeca Film Festival. I did the surround mix on the film.
“Brewmaster” – A new concept trailer by director Johnathan Brownlee. I was the re-recording mixer.
“Kite On A String – The Bobby Kimball Story” – A documentary about the life and music of the original singer for Toto, Bobby Kimball. I mixed the trailer earlier this year and production on the whole film should wrap next year.
“Expedition Hemispheres” – A great new YouTube series focusing on hiking and camping in America’s National Parks by director Matt Brundige. I was the re-recording mixer.
“La Calesita” – An animated short film I sound designed and mixed for Reel FX Creative Studios in 2022, is still making it’s rounds on the global film festival circuit and has picked up many Best-of awards, Official Selections & Honorable Mentions.
“The Smell of Money” – A documentary on our food supply and it’s impact on the residents of North Carolina is still making it’s rounds on the film festival circuit and picking up mentions in the press and has recently secured a distribution deal. On the music side of things I’ve mastered 20 records this year for my library/stock music clients.
And lastly, I’m playing bass with two bands: “The Half Guided Hearts” and “Chris J Norwood and The Knockdown Dragout“. The Half Guided Hearts has recorded two singles this year that are currently getting air play on KXT “Forget” and “Looking Good”. Chris Norwood and The Knockdown Dragout also released two singles this year an original, “The Knockdown Dragout” and a cover of the Otis Redding tune, “Fa Fa Fa Fa Fa (Sad Song)”. Chris’ album release show will happen at The Kessler Theater on Friday, February 9th with special guests Kirk Thurmond and The Rosemont Kings. You may know Chris Norwood from his work with The Listening Chair, Breed Music & Sound Design, and now Fresh Squeezed Music. Both bands are produced and engineered by Guillermo Murillo.
