1820 Productions recently completed a new commercial for Texas Veterans Land Board, an organization that administers benefits exclusively for Texas Veterans. Some of these benefits include land, home and home improvement loans, long term care, cemeteries, call centers and more.
The purpose of the project, entitled “Enhancing Lives” was to inform the viewer what Texas VLB can offer veterans after they have left service. Proscalar, an Austin-based agency, contracted 1820 for not only the production, but for the creative idea for the spot. How often does that happen?
Korey Miller, Principal/Director with 1820, envisioned having an actor walking and talking like an army serviceman at an outdoor army base, and then changing locations and wardrobe to an indoor home kitchen. The trick on the transition was it wasn’t a simple cut, but a complete visual transformation before the viewer’s eyes. Although the background transition is perfect, it is completely overshadowed by the actor’s wardrobe change. It is pure magic, or so it would appear. As it turns out, it has absolutely zero special effects.
1820 Productions has developed a great reputation for pulling off incredibly difficult production (see this underwater shoot) without SFX, and without a hitch.
AdChat DFW’s Patty Harrison had the opportunity to sit down with Korey and get into the details of this well-done spot. Check out the spot and the interview…
