WRR and KERA are thrilled to welcome Brooke Scholl as Weekend Host & Programming Assistant on WRR 101.1 FM.
“Brooke is a wonderful addition to the team,” says Kurt Rongey, Assistant Program Director & Host of WRR. “Her career and experience deeply align with WRR’s mission to help support our local arts community and provide classical music for everyone. I know North Texas audiences will be thrilled to welcome her.”
“Almost my entire career has been in pursuit of making classical music more relevant than ever,” says Scholl. “I know WRR shares that commitment, and it’s an honor to join the team.”
Originally from Washington State, Scholl has dedicated her life to the art of performing and teaching classical music. She holds degrees in Cello Performance from Central Washington University, Glenn Gould School of the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto, and Southern Methodist University where she studied with Andres Diaz and served as a member of the Julius Quartet, ensemble in residence at SMU, under the mentorship of Aaron Boyd and the Escher String Quartet.
Prior to joining WRR, Brooke worked for Opus 3 Artists in New York City, where she booked classical soloists and chamber music ensembles with nearly a third of the country’s orchestras and performance series. Brooke also has curated the Dallas Symphony’s most recent Women in Classical Music Symposium, and currently freelances with symphonies across Texas, including the Abilene Philharmonic, Plano Symphony Orchestra, Waco Symphony Orchestra, and more.
North Texas listeners can hear Brooke on Saturdays and Sundays from 1:00-6:00 p.m. on WRR 101.1, streaming on wrr101.org or on the WRR app.
