Truitt Glover Releases Trailer for “IT CALLS TO ME”, an Addiction Horror Drama Shot Locally

Written by AdChat DFW

“IT CALLS TO ME” is a new short film from Texas-based writer/director/editor Truitt Glover, exploring the horrors of addiction through a gripping supernatural lens. Set in the quiet countryside of Greenville, TX, this horror-drama follows a fractured family, a struggling father desperate to care for his young daughter, and the parasitic demon that keeps him from doing so. The monster in this story? A blood-sucking, shape-shifting metaphor for addiction.

Truitt wrote the script in late 2024 and pitched it to Lindsey Barnes, an executive producer he had previously worked with on a feature film. She immediately connected with the concept and jumped on board—not just as a funder, but as a hands-on partner who helped guide the production from start to finish. Truitt stated, “She contributed most of the budget. I couldn’t have done it without her.”

Production kicked off in late March 2025. The team shot primarily outdoors in rural Texas—beautiful, but unpredictable. From rough weather to snakes and deep mud, the crew battled the elements throughout the process. After being cut short, the team regrouped for additional shoot days in early May and powered through. “Everyone on the team was really excellent, tough, and hard-working. Everything we shot was really high quality despite the difficult conditions,” Truitt continued.

Truitt Allen has been writing, directing, and editing narrative films since 2020. His most recent short, The Promise (2024), screened at seven film festivals, winning Best Thriller at the Texas Short Film Festival and Best Cinematography at Monza Film Festival in Italy.

The film also received a 5-star review from Short Films Matter and was featured in their exclusive “crème de la crème” collection.

Executive Producer Lindsey didn’t come to film through the arts. Her background is in leadership and team building—skills that turn out to be vital on independent film sets. As the founder of 941 Productions, Lindsey is investing in the growing film scene across Texas. With the state’s new production incentives and a wave of local talent, she believes the best is yet to come. “There’s momentum in this state—and we’re just getting started,” Lindsey stated, “I’ve never considered myself a creative, but executive producing lets me do what I love: build teams, champion storytellers, and create a culture where projects actually finish. It’s bold, it’s weird, and it gives you room to explore really hard themes in beautifully unexpected ways. That’s why I was excited to partner with Truitt—he’s one of the new directors to watch on the Texas film scene.” She thrives behind the scenes—managing chaos, creating structure, and helping directors stay focused on the creative. And horror? That’s her genre of choice.

The film is now in its final stages of post-production and will soon begin making its way to film festivals in the U.S. and abroad.

Follow along as IT CALLS TO ME begins its journey into the world—and keep an eye out for this uniquely Texas horror-drama at a festival near you.
