Written by Johnson and Sekin

DALLASAug. 7, 2018 – Fuzzy’s Taco Shop, the Baja-style taco joint founded near the TCU college campus in 2003, has selected Dallas independent agency Johnson & Sekin as its new advertising agency of record following a formal review. The agency decision occurs at the same time Fuzzy’s Taco Shop celebrates its 15th anniversary.

Fuzzy’s Taco Shop has grown to 146 restaurants in 19 states with another 19 locations currently in the works, so it’s no surprise it ranked #7 on the list of 2018’s “Fastest Growing Chains” by Nation’s Restaurant News. The fast-casual restaurant serves Baja-style tacos, Tex-Mex favorites and breakfast all day, with many restaurants featuring a patio and bar serving ice-cold schooners of beer and margaritas.

Initial work from Johnson & Sekin will begin in Fall 2018. Overall work will include positioning, branding, promotions, cause marketing, social media and even culinary ideation.

“Fuzzy’s Taco Shop has always been a brand that does things a little differently,” said Linda Veatch, Vice President of Marketing for Fuzzy’s Taco Shop. “The team at Johnson & Sekin is different as well, mixing award-winning strategy and creative, impressive restaurant experience and a true sense of client-agency partnership.”

The addition of Fuzzy’s Taco Shop continues an impressive year-long winning streak for the agency that includes Chill Grill & Bar, Dallas Zoo, Baylor University, Local Hive Honey and Boy Scouts of America. Johnson & Sekin was founded in 2009 by Dallas creative veterans Kent Johnsonand Chris Sekin, and has been AAF Dallas’ most-awarded agency over the last five years. They were named to Ad Age’s coveted “Best Places to Work” last year, and were recently recognized by American Advertising Federation, American Marketing Association, Dallas Society of Visual Communications, Lüerzer’s Archive, Logo Lounge and Texas Monthly.

“We’re tremendously excited to be associated with such a hot restaurant concept as Fuzzy’s Taco Shop,” said Chris Sekin, managing partner and Executive Creative Director of Johnson & Sekin. “Our two brands seem to be perfect for one another, and we look forward to working with the home office and Fuzzy’s franchisees around the country.”
