As the Official Airline of the Southeastern Conference (SEC), Southwest kicked off the weekend of a major college rivalry game with the Plane Pull tradition at our Dallas Maintenance Hangar as nearly 2,000 Employees and guests cheered on Team Texas and Team Oklahoma. They raced to see which team of Employees could pull a Southwest 737 across 50 yards the fastest and according to our friendly competition, the winner – which some believe can be a predictor for the real game – was “Team Texas” in Southwest’s 2025 Plane Pull!
Celebrating 40 Years with RMHC
This year’s Plane Pull also marked a milestone—Southwest’s 40-year partnership with Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC). In honor of the occasion, Southwest brought Heart to the hustle by inviting a local RMHC child to perform the ceremonial coin toss, and Southwest donated $5,000 to the RMHC Chapter in Dallas. Earlier this year, Employees volunteered nearly 4,000 hours across 35 RMHC chapters, serving meals and comfort to families in need.
Through Southwest’s $40K for 40 Years donation match, every dollar donated to RMHC by Oct. 15 will be matched—up to $40,000. Others can donate at https://rmhc.org/Southwest to double the impact by Oct. 15.
Tailgates and Touchdowns
After the pull, attendees went to the official Southwest and Dr Pepper® tailgate, where they enjoyed food, games, music, and surprises—including Southwest swag, and some even scored tickets to the SEC Championship game in Atlanta on Saturday, Dec. 6.
