Side Chops content studio announces the addition of editor/mograph/VFX artist Jean-Patrick Nova and Senior Post Producer Kim Estrada. The two joined the team this summer.
Jean Patrick Nova, known inside the shop as simply “Nova,” is a graduate of The University of Iowa and UT Arlington, where he respectively earned a BFA in Cinema and a MFA in Film. His ten years of experience includes stints at Chewy, Alpha Paw and the Art Institute of Dallas where he served as adjunct professor. Nova’s proficiency in production, Premiere Pro, After Effects and Resolve, allows a full gamut of shooting, editing, compositing, graphics and color grading. “Jean-Patrick is a great complement to our existing roster. His skillset is pretty impressive, but, more importantly, he brings a wealth of knowledge, a unique perspective and passable skateboarding skills to our team” says Executive Producer Gerald Jones.
“My journey to Side Chops involved honing my crafts as editor, director and motion graphics artist as I oscillated between the myriad industries of film, academia, fashion editorial and furry friends,” says Nova. “What excited me about this opportunity was joining a team that has helmed some impressive and creative projects but is still down to earth and emphasizes cultivating talent. I feel I can learn, grow, and really unleash my skill set at Side Chops.”

Dallas native Kim Estrada also joins the team as Senior Post Producer. Estrada began her post production career at Filmworkers Club before becoming Producer at Treehouse Editorial where she worked on numerous accounts including The Home Depot, H-E-B, Toyota and Frito-Lay. “Kim’s knowledge of the entire post production process is immeasurable,” Jones continues. “We’re already feeling the difference in having Kim on the team. She’s improving and streamlining post processes, jumping into line producing and, just as we suspected, clients love her.”
“Side Chops’ business model is quite different from the traditional post facility, which I appreciated, so I made the jump with both feet.” Estrada says. “I come from a traditional post-house environment, and here I have the opportunity to learn so much more about the creative process, production, really everything advertising now encompasses. The first month I was here, our team created internal content for King’s Hawaiian, finished over seventy broadcast pieces for KIA and supported a Fortune 500 company’s NYSE spinoff with content we shot, edited and finished. We were so busy, I didn’t even have time to implement my TikTok dance team building exercises. But they’re coming.”

Side Chops Partner and Senior Editor Shelby Miller adds, “We truly believe it’s our people who set us apart and I can’t be happier to have these two join the Side Chops team. They each bring unique experiences, ideas and skills, allowing Side Chops to continue to expand our business with clients who rely on turn-key solutions which include strategy, implementation and a stellar final product.”
