Screen Dallas is an annual program from the Dallas Film Commission that awards one feature length documentary with a fully sponsored, week-long theatrical release, offering filmmakers a powerful platform to qualify for the Academy Awards and connect with Dallas audiences.
The Dallas Film Commission has partnered with local festival programmers to select a feature-length documentary worthy of Academy recognition.
Any documentary that screens at a Dallas area festival will automatically be considered for the program.
Missed the festivals but want to submit for this year’s Screen Dallas prize? Rules are as follows:
- Must be a feature length documentary (must be over 40 minutes long).
- Must be sent via a password protected link (Vimeo or other format).
- Include information such as director, producers, poster (if applicable), and short bio about the documentary.
- Include any film festival screenings or official selections the documentary has participated in.
- Include information on any current or planned distribution for the documentary.
- Documentary must have been completed after November 2024.

- Outside submissions will close on July 15.
This year’s Screen Dallas red carpet celebration will happen on September 3, 2026 at the Texas Theatre. We will announce the Grand Prize winner for this year’s Screen Dallas in August.
