Chuck E. Cheese, the global family entertainment venue, which was founded in California in 1977, is responding to the devastating wildfires in Southern California by providing donations and some needed relief for children, families and first responders in the affected areas through several initiatives.
The Company’s charitable arm, CEC Cares and all 73 company-owned California fun centers are partnering with Round It Up America to benefit American Red Cross Los Angeles Region Jan. 21 – Feb. 21. Along with CEC’s donation, the partnership allows guests to round up their purchases to the nearest dollar, with the difference being donated to meet urgent needs of kids and families living in hard-hit areas.
Next, the Company has designated nine locations to serve as a collection center for donations for items needed for young families. Requested items include new toys, stuffed animals, clothing, including pajamas and undergarments, jackets and shoes for kids ages 5-12. The Company will also be donating Chuck E. Cheese toys, activity books and games.
Lastly, Chuck E. Cheese designated locations will be hosting an hour of free game play to families in affected zip codes and to the families of uniformed California first responders* starting Tuesday, Jan. 21, through Thursday, Jan. 23, from 3-5 p.m. at the following locations:
- Pasadena, 3737 E. Foothill Blvd., Pasadena, CA 91107
- Puente Hills, 17585 Colima Road, City of Industry, CA 91748
- Glendale, 2700 Colorado Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90041
In addition, Dippin’ Dots® will give each child who qualifies for free game play a free small cup of Dippin Dots® at the above Fun Centers.
“As a Company with over a dozen locations, hundreds of employees and thousands of guests in the area, we are deeply saddened by the devastation caused by the fires in Southern California. We are committed to helping young families across the region and know that active play for kids is important when coping and getting back to some normalcy during a natural disaster. Along with our donations, we want to offer a small respite during these difficult times by providing free play at nearby L.A.-area Chuck E. Cheese locations,” said David McKillips, CEO of CEC Entertainment. “We stand together with our community and will be supporting and bringing joy to those impacted by this tragedy as they begin to rebuild and recover.”
