Visit Fort Worth Annouces “The Pearl Comb” Makes Academy Awards Short List

Written by Visit Forth Worth

Taylor Hardy, Fort Worth Film Commissioner posted on LinkedIn today:

Earlier this year the Fort Worth Film Commission launched the “Premiere Packages” program to support independent filmmakers through the Oscar-qualification process.

We gathered a committee led by Academy Award-winning filmmaker Brandon Oldenburg and were blown away by short film applications from around the world!

From this group, we hosted five INCREDIBLE films for a free, red carpet premiere party and qualifying theatrical release.

Today, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced that “The Pearl Comb” made the shortlist for the 98th awards season!!

The Academy reviewed 207 eligible Live Action shorts this year, so to be selected as one of the top 15 films is a massive accomplishment. I am over the moon with excitement for Writer/Director Ali Cook.

So proud of our team and grateful for Visit Fort Worth, our Screening Committee, The Film Festival Doctor, and the partners who believed in and supported this program. ❤️

I’m also thankful for the filmmakers who shared their work with us. I laughed, cried and learned so much from the films and am thankful for new connections with creatives who inspire me!
