Raising Cane’s to Donate Over $22,000 to Cody’s Friends Rescue

Written by Raising Canes

On National Adopt a Shelter Pet Day, April 30, Raising Cane’s will present funds raised from 69 Restaurants across the DFW Metroplex — totaling over $22,000 — to Cody’s Friends Rescue in an effort to raise awareness for the organization’s mission to help homeless, unwanted, neglected and abused dogs find loving, forever homes.

Representatives from Cody’s Friends Rescue alongside a few adoptable furry friends will formally accept the donation (and treats!) on Wednesday, April 30, from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the Raising Cane’s located on 4100 Beltline Rd in Addison.

Cody’s Friends Rescue is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to helping homeless, unwanted, neglected and abused dogs find loving, forever homes. Founded by Tina Austin in honor of her beloved Shih Tzu, Cody, Cody’s Friends Rescue has grown into a thriving all-breed rescue that has saved over 8,000 dogs, while passionately raising awareness about spay/neuter practices and the urgent needs of shelter animals.

From March 19 through April 29, Raising Cane’s sold limited-edition Golden Plush Puppies inspired by its once-in-a-lifetime milestone, with 100% of net proceeds benefiting local pet welfare organizations. Designed to commemorate Cane’s 28th year, the campaign raised funds nationwide, including right here in DFW, continuing Cane’s longstanding commitment to supporting animal welfare and Communities from coast to coast.

“We need a new bus to get dogs to adoption events and pick up our dogs that are in boarding, so we aim to use these funds from Raising Cane’s  towards buying a new mode of transportation and of course medical needs for our animals, where we spend over $300,000 a year,” said Tina Austin, Founder of Cody’s Friends Rescue.

In addition, on Wednesday, April 30, TikTok animal welfare sensation and star of Discovery+ “My Pack Life” Lee Asher will receive a tail-wagging $100K donation from Raising Cane’s on behalf of his nonprofit, The Asher House. The contribution will support The Asher House’s mission of rescuing and rehabilitating animals of all kinds at the Oregon-based sanctuary in the Willamette Valley.

Todd Graves, owner and founder of Raising Cane’s, infused his passion for animals into the brand he founded in 1996, naming it after his beloved dog. The Plush Puppy initiative is an annual tradition and has raised over $2 million to date for Community dog parks, no-kill rescues and animal shelters across the U.S. The Golden Plush Puppy initiative is part of Cane’s pledge to give back $30 million to local Communities in 2025. Over the past 28 years, the brand has donated more than $140 million to over 30,000 local organizations and nonprofits through its 900+ Restaurants.
