In Texas, climate change is making heatwaves hotter, hurricanes stronger and droughts longer. Many call it the defining issue of our times. And yet 35% of Texans don’t think it’s happening or are not sure.
With the clock ticking to reduce the world’s carbon emissions, activists are writing these skeptics off as they move forward towards solutions. But WFAA-TV and its Verify Road Trip franchise took a different approach.
Reporter David Schechter invited a climate change skeptic to come along on an epic reporting trip. Justin Fain is a 38-year-old roofer from Dallas who’s politically conservative. He participated the entire reporting process: seeing whatever David saw, asking his own questions and reaching his own conclusions.
The result is Verify: Climate Change, an hour-long documentary on WFAA-TV (ABC/Channel 8) airing Sunday, December 29 at 4pm.
