Event Horizon Films (EHF) recently debuted the first poster for Sneakerhead, the grand-prize-winning script for the Dallas International Film Festival Screenwriting Competition 2023.
The poster gave an under-the-bed perspective of a person wearing trendy sneakers in a room filled with rows of stylish shoes. The Sneakerhead lettering was tied together with laces, and a slogan was provided stating, “some childhood monsters never go away,” confirming the suspense-thriller vibe.
EHF also revealed the storyline of the film written by the Script to Screen winner, Jamie Campbell: “Meredith Jones [who] revisits her family home, only to discover that the childhood monster under her bed still lurks, and it’s hungrier than ever.”
Shooting for the short film is set to begin during the summer 2024. It will be directed by award-winning filmmaker Johnathan Brownlee, who recently created and produced Hallmark’s latest holiday hit, Navigating Christmas.
Sneakerhead will be produced by Event Horizon Films, Torfoot Studios, Litwin Law Group, PLLC, The Law Office of Latoya L. Blakely and Weaver Robinson Law Firm. The film will screen at the Dallas International Film Festival 2025 and across the film festival circuit.
Sneakerhead marks the second film that Event Horizon Films and Torfoot Studios have joined together to produce a short film for DIFF. The previous film, (*)hit Squad, written by Harry Hunsicker and directed by Brownlee, earned a bronze Telly Award and was an official selection at 16 film festivals.
