Event Horizon Films, an award-winning production company and screenwriting service, announced the launch of new design services during the Dallas International Film Festival.
EHF’s “Script Marketing” service provides filmmakers and screenwriters with custom movie posters and storyboards to help share their work visually. Filmmakers may choose between the development of a graphic design or a digital illustration for their movie poster at a competitive rate. Storyboard illustrations included four frames per page, and may be purchased at tiered rates for simple, shaded and colored options. EHF’s story beats service included 15 illustrations of a story’s major scenes for inclusion in pitch decks and producer packets.
“These designs are great tools for pre-production,” said Jodi Frizzell, executive producer, Event Horizon Films. “It’s helpful for screenwriters to be able to sell audiences on what their words will look like on a visual medium. The storyboards are especially beneficial for directors who prefer to study the visual layout of a scene before shooting it.”
The brand launched the new services during the EHF-sponsored DIFF 2024 Filmmaker Happy Hour at CRU Wine Bar on Monday night. Examples of sample artwork were displayed throughout the room, including custom-illustrated puzzles that paid tribute to memorable scenes from famous films.
“We’ve been building up to this,” Frizzell said. “Our design team has been busy this year, creating tribute artwork and posting on social media to educate emerging screenwriters on the various ways powerful writing shapes a scene. So, essentially, showing them a storyboard frame to inform their writing.”
EHF leveraged DIFF’s nationally recognized screenplay competition to test consumer interest by offering these services for competition prizes and promotions.
“Every submission received a complimentary illustration of the script’s first scene,” Frizzell said. “No other screenplay competition does this, so it was something fun and unique to try. We wanted to stress the importance of hooking an audience visually from page one, while showing the advantages of storyboarding a script. The feedback was substantial.”
