World’s Largest Annual Eco Forum
EARTHxFilm has announced its CALL FOR ENTRIES looking for documentary, narrative and short submissions for the second annual film festival in April 2018 with prize money totaling $25,000. EARTHxFilm takes place during EARTHx, a global environmental expo and summit in Dallas, Texas.
“EARTHxFilm looks to take the audience member from an emotional reaction to action by showcasing films and emerging media that explore conservation, climate change and the environment,” said Michael Cain, president of EARTHxFilm. “Our first call for entries offers the opportunity to filmmakers to submit their films and projects that have the potential to make a real difference in people’s lives.”
Dennis Bishop, co-creator of EARTHxFilm EDU added: “Through film, young people have the opportunity to highlight the immediacy of the issues we face and to be part of the quest for viable solutions. Humans respond to stories and we are fortunate to be able to put a camera in a student’s hands and give them the power to tell the story that needs to be told.”
In 2017, EARTHxFilm brought together Academy Award-winning directors, environmental activists, passionate celebrities and many local filmmakers with screenings of CHASING CORAL, HAPPENING and clips from the upcoming documentary focused on food deserts WHERE’S THE FOOD?! Cain and co-founder of EARTHxFilm and founder of EARTHx, Trammell S. Crow not only provide a platform for sustainable filmmakers to showcase their work, but also helped produce the breakout film, RACING EXTINCTION and the upcoming film based on the Flint, Michigan water crisis, BIGGER THAN WATER.
All feature length documentary, narrative and short films submitted to EARTHxFilm must have an environmental or social topic. We are seeking stories that explore ideas that encompass Climate Change, Conservation, Energy, Food & Agriculture, Water & Ocean, Wildlife, Recycling & Conservation, Cities and Transportation, and Social Justice. Student shorts made as part of an undergraduate or graduate university college program are also accepted.
EARTHxFilm will present Filmmaker Awards totaling $25,000 in cash to the best narrative and documentary features, as selected by the audience award and their respective juries.
Information on deadline dates, fees, and rules can be found at http://earthxfilm.org. EARTHxFilm is currently accepting submissions via FilmFreeway.com https://filmfreeway.com/festival/EARTHxFilmFestival.
