College seniors and graduate students seeking a career in advertising will have an opportunity to learn how to make the transition direct from industry leaders on November 1 when the Dallas Council of the American Association of Advertising Agencies hosts AdEdge 2019 at the historic Statler Hotel in Dallas.
The event, which runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., was designed by Dallas advertising agency professionals who will be hands-on at the event, speaking, advising and mentoring graduating students.
“This fresh, inventive event is a new way to give students a giant step forward into their careers,” said Michael Boone of Dallas agency Launch and Dallas Council Chairman. “We’re offering them a chance to invest in their future by connecting with many of the leading professionals in the Dallas advertising industry.”
Dallas advertising legend Stan Richards will open the event with a keynote address followed by a series of panels and breakout sessions featuring some of the top names in the Dallas advertising community.
“I’ve seen first-hand the way young, energized graduates have made an impact and risen through the ranks of agencies, including ours,” said Richards. “I’m honored to be asked to keynote this important inaugural event and looking forward to speaking to the future leaders of the industry.”
Topics to be covered include a look at “A Day in the Life of a Typical Ad Person,” “Understanding Which Aspect of Advertising is Right for You,” “What Agencies are looking for in a new hire” as well as discussions on the impact of technology and a chance to “Ask the Ad Execs” during round-tables.
“This is not a job fair,” Boone said. “Rather, it is a higher-level engagement between current and future ad professionals. It’s a chance for students to learn from professionals who know what it’s like and what it takes to ‘live’ the business and be successful.”
Fee for 2019/2020 graduating senior students to attend is $50. Colleges and universities are encouraged to become sponsors which will provide, among other benefits, passes to the event for up to five students.
