Uber Partners with Tegan for New Site

Uber Freight unveiled an updated digital platform with the help of Dallas-based marketing agency, Tegan. The global shipping company acquired Transplace, which led to the merging of the two separate websites.

Uber Freight boasts one of the largest logistics and transportation networks in the world. The platform allows shippers and carriers of all sizes to take control of their freight and deliver on their goals, with over 200,000 users with more than $17 billion of freight.

Founded in 2000, Dallas-based Transplace has grown into one of the largest transportation logistics companies in the nation. Their merger with Uber Freight promises to bring new efficiencies and transparency to shippers and carriers across the globe.

Traffik led Uber’s new site design, while Tegan took lead on the development and deployment. The new and improved site launched early September, quickly followed by significant phased out updates including language translation capabilities and a robust blog section with 340+ posts.

The ‘Serial’ Podcast Star Goes Free | Tegan’s John Herrington Reflects on the Marketing Power of a Good Story

Last week, Adnan Syed was released from prison. Sound familiar, but you can’t quite place him? Syed was the center of the inaugural season of the hit podcast Serial. Remember binging that one? Same.

Quick refresher. Syed was charged with the murder of his ex-girlfriend in 1999. The crime was ugly- the victim was found strangled in the woods. The case was thrust into the spotlight in 2014, when it became the main focus of Serial. Over the course of 12 episodes, the show probed the details of the murder case, exposing a disturbing amount of questions unanswered and unsettling complications surrounding the final verdict.

And aside from shining a spotlight on Syed’s questionable conviction, the podcast broke new ground in episodic, audio storytelling. With over 300 million downloads, the first season inspired an entire genre of true crime podcasts. Serial was the first of its kind. It won just about every major journalism award, including a DuPont and a Peabody. And Sarah Koenig, the show’s host, was named one of Time’s Most Influential People of 2015.

Fast forward to today, and after serving nearly 23 years behind bars, a US judge overturned Adnan Syed’s conviction. While the decision does not mean he is innocent, it does allow for Syed to receive a new trial.

Does Syed owe his newfound freedom to the podcast? No doubt. Of course, a team of attorneys and and a certain State Attorney in Baltimore had something to do with it, but would the case ever have gotten a second look if it weren’t for Serial? My hunch? Definitely not. In recent years, other investigative podcasts like Serial have worked to get high-profile cases overturned. In the Dark helped get a murder conviction reversed for Mississippi man Curtis Flowers.

Interestingly enough, it’s not the power of the truth that wins here. Of course, the truth should always be your focal point. But how you tell the truth matters. When it comes to effective marketing, it’s all about the power of a good story. Or better yet, the power of a well told story. Through the lens of a sitting judge, or even an attorney, Adnan Syed’s case sounds like the hundred others we’ve seen on the news ticker at night. But through the means of investigative journalism, with the voice of a fantastic story teller, and broadcasted on a popular audio platform, the right story has the opportunity to thrive. And once an audience is captivated, enter the power of social media. Serial took off, and the rallying cries on social media followed closely behind. The case garnered an enormous amount of attention. Attention it wouldn’t have received otherwise.

Lesson of the day? Stories matter. And how well a story is told could be the difference in life or death. No pressure.

Dallas Holocaust and Human Rights Museum Launches First Brand Campaign

The Dallas Holocaust and Human Rights Museum is launching its first full-fledged brand campaign with help from their local agency of record, Tegan Digital. Tasked with increasing exposure to the Museum’s expansive modern exhibits and immersive educational resources, the Tegan team has created a striking invitation for visitors to its new location in Dallas’ historic West End.

“The Tegan team artfully distilled the heart behind the Museum’s message, creating media that will not only resonate with our audiences, but will center the dignity and humanity of those whose stories we are telling,” said Mary Pat Higgins, President and CEO of the Museum. “We are excited to launch this campaign and know it will move and inspire all those who encounter it.”

The agency spearheaded strategy, design, copywriting, and visual storytelling, crafting a compelling narrative centered around the Museum’s position as a repository of historical and cultural memory–a place where both education and remembrance can serve as powerful conduits of change. The campaign kicks off this month and will run as a multi-year effort across a wide range of media, including connected TV, out of home, print, digital displays, paid search, and paid social.

“We’re honored and thrilled to play a creative role in the Museum’s inaugural brand awareness campaign,” said John Herrington, VP of Client Services at Tegan. “I can’t think of a more crucial and urgent responsibility than the Museum’s mission to keep the truth of history alive and accessible for new generations and to continue inspiring people to stand up to injustice.”

Tegan’s working relationship with the Museum began in 2019 when the agency took on the challenge of completely redesigning their website, which was launched in tandem with the grand opening of their new 55,000-square-foot permanent home in downtown Dallas. The agency’s role in the project included the creation of digital strategy information architecture, UX/UI design, web and CMS development, photography and videography, and ongoing site management.

The Museum provides a space for individuals to learn about and reflect on our history and shared humanity. It is the only institution with a dual focus on the Holocaust and human rights serving North Texas and the surrounding states of Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Louisiana. The Museum continues to be recognized for its creative programming, internationally acclaimed exhibits, and distinguished speakers.

Tegan Launches New Site for Renowned Leader in Dallas’ Jewish Community

Tegan is excited to announce the launch of Temple Emanu-El’s new website! It went live earlier this month and while it didn’t break the internet, it came really, really close.

Back in 2021, Temple Emanu-El reached out to Tegan to refresh their online presence, including a new website and updated branding. The Temple team was looking for a digital space that better reflected their welcoming and diverse fellowship, and that provided much-needed resources to members and visitors alike. We were eager to take on the challenge.

The Tegan team created an entirely reimagined platform for the Temple, unifying a previously disparate online experience between public, private and livestream audiences. Leading strategy, design and development for the new website, Tegan made sure to incorporate the many architectural and symbolic elements of Temple Emanu-El’s physical space into their new digital home.

In addition to website development, Tegan collaborated with Temple Emanu-El’s team to streamline their digital brand presence. Using StoryBrand messaging, they established Temple Emanu-El’s inclusive narrative, which is woven throughout the site, to best communicate Temple’s welcoming and diverse spirit. A toolkit of design elements was also developed, in an effort to connect their multiple site destinations and create a unified presence. Now Temple’s site is shining just as brightly as their message. Break out the sunglasses and pop the champagne!

Local Childhood Cancer Nonprofit Salood selects Tegan as Agency of Record

Tegan is thrilled to introduce our newest clients and friends from Salood. This incredible local organization’s mission is all about helping families whose kiddos are battling cancer.

Since 2019, Salood has worked to bring attention to the often invisible financial burdens facing families with sick children—from utilities to gas to childcare—things that fall outside the more obvious expenses of hospital stays and doctors’ bills. Having to pick between rent, food, and your child’s medical needs is just plain wrong.

Coming on as the organization’s Agency of Record, Tegan will take the lead on all digital initiatives, including social media strategy and management, as well as branding efforts. The goal? Establish and strengthen Salood’s mission with more streamlined messaging, creating a unified front across all campaign efforts. Through this partnership, Salood hopes to expand their visibility and reach, inviting future partnerships and donation opportunities, and expanding the number of families they can support.

At Tegan, we try not to take ourselves too seriously. What we are serious about is partnering with good people who are doing good in the world, and Salood checks all those boxes twice. We’re humbled and honored to work together. And we can’t wait to get started.

Tegan Wins Big at the 2022 AMA Marketer of the Year Awards

We love Fridays around here, but Fridays after a big award win? We really, really love.

Last night, we won big at the AMA DFW Marketer of the Year Awards! Tegan was awarded best Mobile Marketing for our work on the Safe Harbor Marinas Water App. We’re really proud of all we’ve created with the Safe Harbor team, so to be recognized among some of the best in the biz feels pretty special. We even got to take home a swanky glass trophy to prove it. It feels a little flashy… so we’ll be displaying it under a spotlight in the center of the office. Something subtle. Our agency was also considered as a finalist for the Marketer of the Year award. Although we didn’t win that one, we were pumped to see our friends from Spire take home the title.

John, Kelsey, Ryan and Julianne attended the ceremony, and enjoyed an evening of good food, drinks, and the company of DFW’s finest marketers. They got to see some familiar faces and high-five friends our work has crossed paths with over the years. The marketing world is a small but mighty one, and we’re thrilled to be a part of it.

And now for a not so humble brag, we’re certainly no strangers to awards these days. Our agency celebrated our most decorated year yet in 2021, and at the pace we’re going now, we just might beat that record soon.

Tegan Kicks Off 2022 With Award Winning Streak

Tegan Digital continues to make a huge impression in the digital marketing industry. In the last quarter alone, the Tegan team has brought home six awards across multiple projects for excellence in design, marketing and communication. The local Dallas agency has evolved well beyond web development since its launch in 2011, and now thrives as a digital-first, full-service agency.

This year, Tegan’s work with The Birthday Party Project received a silver ADDY from the American Advertising Federation’s 60th annual prestigious ADDY awards. Kelsey Mason, an Account Director from Tegan, and Jessica LaTour, head of Media Planning, represented the agency at the evening’s ceremony at the Dallas Perot Museum.

“It really was a privilege to be considered among the best agencies in the city,” says Mason. “And of course, bringing home some hardware on behalf of the Tegan team and our clients was a pretty great way to end the night.”

Tegan partnered with the Dallas non-profit in 2020 for a fresh rebrand and a new website, hopeful to design and develop a digital platform that best represented the heartbeat behind the organization’s mission. The new site is exactly what a birthday party should look like, complete with bright colors, confetti, smiling faces and playful animation. Since its debut in the spring of 2021, The Birthday Party Project’s site has received more than a dozen awards across multiple award shows, including a gold placement from the Horizon Interactive Awards early this year.

Tegan’s partnership with another Dallas non-profit, the Legacy Senior Communities, continues to receive recognition for outstanding work. As the Legacy’s Agency of Record, Tegan operates as the organization’s marketing arm, taking the lead on ongoing marketing initiatives and executing new digital strategies. The Tegan team launched an omnichannel marketing campaign to promote the Legacy’s Midtown Park campus in the fall of 2021. Creative work included paid display banners, paid search, connected TV, direct mail and email marketing. The campaign’s success continues to bring new visitors to the Legacy every day, and earned a gold placement from both the Horizon Interactive Awards and the Hermes Awards.

The first-of-its-kind app is designed to revolutionize collision repair by bringing existing LiDAR technology into the automotive physical damage industry. The app pairs the laser-driven tech already present in iPhones and iPads with cutting-edge artificial intelligence to seamlessly capture damages, sharing information with insurance adjusters for assessment. By establishing a standardized quoting process for repairers and insurers, the groundbreaking technology promises to uncomplicate the estimating process.

The Tegan team was brought on board to create a strategic communication plan that serves to inform and educate the Dents.co audience.
