Getting Out Your Public Relations Message

Want to learn the inside tips of creating a speech that moves your audience to action or turning stories into social media soundbites? Public Relations Society of America/PRSA Dallas, is pleased to announce that internationally renowned speechwriting and soundbiting expert Joan Detz will share some best-in-class techniques and tools for improving writing skills in today’s “soundbite” environment at the upcoming Speechwriting and Soundbiting Boot Camp held on Friday, March 24 from 9am – 12:30pm.

Joan has trained communications executives from the likes of Toyota to The Robert Woods Johnson Foundation to Southern Company.

In this interactive half-day session, Detz will guide public relations professionals to practice elements of speechwriting and soundbiting, from the practical to the persuasive, including how to:

  • Lay a foundation for the building blocks of a great speech
  • Capture your audience’s attention and keep them interested
  • Inspire those listening to take action
  • Strategize and plan to meet your organization’s needs
  • Turn speeches into stories for social media
  • Write for other voices
  • Recognize that the “how” is as important as the “what”

She is the author of How To Write & Give A Speech, which was praised as “a how-to classic” by The Washington Post. Joan also teaches speechwriting workshops across the U.S. and around the world. She has presented standing-room-only speechwriting sessions at annual conferences for both PRSA and IABC. Working as a coach, she also prepares executives for major speeches and media appearances. She received the President’s Award for her service to the National Association of Government Communicators.

The Speechwriting and Soundbiting Boot Camp will take place Friday, March 24 from 9 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at Half Price Books – Community Room located at 5803 Northwest Highway, Dallas, TX 75231.
